Further Sample Illustrations

To develop my ideas further I wanted to create more illustrations so that I could get more inspiration in the process of creating my final designs. I really enjoyed producing these illustrations because it enabled me to use the photos that I had previously taken from the stand, hence I wanted to enrich my work by using primary photographs and previous works to show my developments within this project. The majority of these illustrations consisted with a lot of denim as the main material, which wasn't actually what I had in mind for a material to use for the final piece. Nonetheless, to relate to my previous work I think my illustrations paid off well.

At this point of the project, I have tried to make my illustrations look very textural based and I loved the fact that my mannequin work was very gathered, layered and held up very well. Moreover, still being rather stuck on which course to choose, I wanted to try Textiles for one last time before our final major project, just so that I can get a real depth and understanding of what I was to do for my BA next year and where would be best suitable for me to go. In addition, illustration is very important in both Textiles and Design because it gives you a 2-D perspective on what a possible final outcome or experiment can be and in my case, I am really am more of a visual thinker rather than literal, which is why I enjoy doing these so much. Again, I haven't done too many for this project because I want to spend my time focusing on the textiles samples rather than the illustrations, but it is really good to experiment with different ideas and mediums within a project so that I can develop and enhance my skills further for a future project, whether that being with design or textiles.

In terms of a sort of concept/theme, I really think I am leaning towards a more Japanese Kimono look, but I want to try achieve this using materials such as duvets, dressing gowns or even towels to enhance the deconstruction, but also to tell a narrative with having a more comforting garment to portray such a beautiful and renowned garment that has been around for centuries. Overall, I will now have to start developing designs and illustrations using these materials, also I will have to create concept boards for my photo shoot, which I want to keep very minimalistic e.g behind a checkered wall, as it keeps the shoot minimalist but also intriguingly geometric.
