Modelling Grannies

Below are some grannies that I managed to photoshop and added on my mannequin structures I constructed previously. I really enjoyed making these because I used my research to inspire my idea of making these on Photoshop, for example most people who have dementia are diagnosed at the age 65 and above, hence why I decided to use an elderly lady to model my stand work. On top of this, by using Photoshop I was able to crop, copy and paste my mannequin works to use as a layering tool to show what I could have made if I had more time and technique, although Photoshop is a quick and easy way to show this. If I could have done anything differently, it probably would have been to perhaps used more of a variety of models and also using different objects as oppose to just my stand work but I feel that it is too early in the project to focus on one particular object which can relate to my project and potentially last for its whole duration.

I am really happy that I have finally been able to use photoshop in this project to relate back to my research. I plan to use the drawings I created via my mannequins and see where they will take me as I feel that they have a lot of potential for future processes such as prints, designs, textiles and much more. Not only this, but I plan to do some photography experimentation soon and I will see how that will look on photoshop and I would like to see how far I can take it, but I definitely feel that my Photoshopping skills have developed tremendously since the start of this course and I hope that I will pick up more skills before the end of this project.

(Photoshop Images produced by Myself)

Below are the grannies I made above, although I wanted to see what they would look like with a strong, solid background. I think that they definitely stand out a lot more, but I think the images I selected are a bit too much to look at and I think it distracts the attention from the mannequin constructions on the granny. Nonetheless, I am glad that I got to try this method out as I think that they may work better, such as a much more minimalistic approach. Furthermore, I wanted to see if this process made the grannies look as if they were more confused with their surroundings, relating back to my theme of "Living with Dementia", but I still don't think it conveyed the message as accurately or as seriously as I originally wanted it to… Overall, I am happy with this process and I plan to use it a lot more during this project to create a series of potential prints and designs for even more experimentations for a strong final piece/collection.
