Mannequin Layered Drawings

Below are observational drawings I produced whilst I was constructing them on the mannequin to get a more detailed perspective. Not only this, I decided to layer the drawings on top of each other to create a sense of structure and attachment, similarly to the brain system. I think this worked effectively as I can see this producing into a print or texture of some form to represent these layered drawings. Previously creating the photoshopped "grannies", I wanted to have more primary work put into it. Also,  I wanted to experiment with different mediums using this process and I did this by adding colour, tracing paper, watercolours, fine liners and much more to see how far I could exhaust this experiment. I think these would look great in terms of shape for a garment and I can really see myself being inspired from this process. Nonetheless, the thing that I was focusing on for this experiment was the empty spaces between the lines and I want to produce more experiments working towards this idea in trying to connect the dots essentially. If I could have done anything differently, it would have been to perhaps tried multiple layerings in different scales and possibly blowing them up and transferring it onto the mannequin to see how I could create an "inception" from using a drawing from previous stand work I have completed.

I think this process really merges well with the current research I have produced for myself so far in which I have conducted surveys with multiple people and it is those connections which is helping me put this project together. Surprisingly, I have not yet hit the wall in terms of being stuck and in the unknown of knowing what to do next. Undoubtedly, I feel that everyone gets to this stage one way or another but I feel like I have the ability to overcome these problems and strive as an independent designer and getting a true depth of having a capsule collection/final garment.

Above are some abstract experimentations I managed to complete post completing my stand observational drawings. I felt that this really gave me an insight within the photocopies, but to also allow myself to take control in the sorts of shapes and structures I would be interested to put forward for my Final Major Project (FMP). Not only this, I am expecting to go to the 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' exhibition soon, which I feel will relate to this project tremendously in terms of fabrication, shape, structure and much more. Hence, I need to try to get as much research as possible and stick to my brief so that I do not fall behind to make this FMP the best it can be without rushing myself.
