Designer Research/ Illustration Collages

To develop my research further, I wanted to research designers who have carried out a similar theme to mine and I was rather surprised by how recent some of the catwalks were. For example, Chanel A/W 2014/15 did a particular catwalk which was focused upon cowboys within their era. I also researched other designers such as Hermes who took a keen interest within this theme too. Not to mention, Prada's S/S 2015/16 really resembled a work-wear look which I also feel relates well to what I am doing. This inspired me to make some quick illustrations using magazine cut outs focusing on colour and texture to make an abstract construction resembling a garment piece.

I was really happy with the outcome of these garments with their unique abstract approach. I also like the contrast between colours as I think they work very well together. On top of this, some of the pieces are tight fitting, whilst others are rather large creating a balance and also resembling both genders in terms of body shape and style. If I could have improved this, I would have liked to have completed more quick illustrations, however I need to invest more time into flat drawings and sketches to develop my project further, however this process has really inspired me for my next few steps to push this project further. I am very excited to reach the end of this project and see how well the outcome will be.
